The Apollo suits were fit-tested pre-flight so that the legs were the right length to give a tight but comfortable fit. Leg length can be adjusted by loosening or tightening laces above the ankle. During the early stages of the mission, Pete realized that he had not worn his liquid-cooled garment during the fitting and, consequently, that the legs were too short. During the rest period between the EVAs, the discomfort became unbearable and Pete called an early end to the rest period so that Al could undo the laces and lengthen Pete's suit legs enough to relieve the pressure. See the discussion following 122:37:27.
