Young and Old

Although Middle Cresent Crater is old and worn smooth by countless small impacts, there are many place where there are blocks of bedrock dug out in recent, smaller impacts within the crater.  These fresh craters and their blocky ejecta are easy to see in cross-Sun views like this one.  In down-Sun views, the rocks and craters hide their own shadows, making them difficult to see.
