Governor of Maine speaks at LT conference

On Monday, June 1, the Honorable Angus King Jr., Governor of Maine, spoke to attendees at the Learning Technologies (LT) Project Conference, Charting the Future, in Portland, Maine. LT is part of the High-Performance Computing and Communications Program.

During his speech, the governor said: "Your work is important because it is an opportunity to provide information, particularly to young people, regardless of the wealth of the audience."

According to King, LT's work provides two effects: it increases prosperity and opportunity, and it increases educational resources, their accessibility and value.

"The Internet is a medium that serves kids, especially young kids, with information in a way they are comfortable with," he added. "It also can create a wealth of opportunities for teacher research..."
