User Self-Service (USS)
USS is the Agency tool that allows you to customize your own name information, making it easier for your colleagues to find you in the NASA Enterprise Directory (NED) and the Global Address List (GAL). USS is useful for those who use a nickname instead of a legal name, those who recently changed their name, and those with very common names.
USS is accessed through the Identity and Access Management System (IdMAX). To access USS, you must have an IdMAX account (see instructions for obtaining an IdMAX account).
Customize Name Information
You can request changes to your e-mail aliases and how your name appears in the NED, the online phone and name directory located at https://webdir.nasa.gov/.
You will also be able to change how your name is displayed in the NOMAD Global Address List (GAL), which is the “Select Names” pop-up box that appears when you’re addressing an e-mail and provides a list of NASA workers by “last name, first name.”
- To view or update your name and e-mail address in NED and GAL, log in to IdMAX: https://idmax.nasa.gov/.
- In the User Tools section, select "Modify Directory Names and E-mail Addresses."
To Obtain an IdMAX account
You must have an IdMAX account to use the tools within the IdMAX system. To activate your IdMAX account, visit idmax.nasa.gov and click on “First Time User.”
