Step 5: Review Proposed SDI List

The SDI Group will present the Proposed SDI List for internal and external review. Review criteria assure that the review teams consider the Proposed SDI as a complete set, rather than individually. Participants in the review of the Proposed SDI will include the President's Council on Sustainable Development, the United Nations Council on Sustainable Development, the Council on Environmental Quality, and the Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources. The various members of the SDI Group will solicit review of the Proposed SDI by their sponsoring Federal agencies. The review participant will also include non-government organizations (business, academic, and non-profit). The Primary products for Step 5 are an electronic database and a document summarizing the comments received during the review and associated recommendations.

The SDI Group will prepare a review package consisting of instructions, review criteria, the Proposed SDI, the draft final report, the selection process, and the SDI Framework. The SDI Group will also place these materials on the WWW server. In addition, the SDI group will set up a process for receiving, organizing, and distributing review comments. Members of the SDI Group and the development teams will then make presentations at various public fora and meetings inviting review and comment on the Proposed SDI. The SDI Group will also arrange for full and open discussion sessions at specific symposia and meetings of scientific, education, and business associations. After a predetermined date, the SDI Group will review and incorporate all of the comments received and finish writing the final report.
