The NextGen-Airspace Project has established six Research Focus Areas in which revolutionary concepts, capabilities, and technologies will be developed, tested and simulated in the lab and, where appropriate, demonstrated in a relevant environment.
Each Research Focus Area is comprised of a team of NASA researchers and partner organizations working to achieve specific research objectives.
Dynamic Airspace Configuration and Traffic Flow Management are key to the fundamental research purpose of addressing the demand/capacity imbalance problem in the safest, equitable, and efficient manner.
Separation Assurance and Airspace Super Density Operations are vital to increasing capacity and efficiency of airspace operations.
Trajectory Prediction Synthesis and Uncertainty and System-Level Design, Analysis and Simulation Tools are crosscutting elements that support the major functional thrusts.
