Hydrogen-Oxygen rocket engine for attitude control, ca. 1980.

Lent by Glenn Research Center

A spacecraft must maintain a correct pointing or flight angle (know as "attitude") in order to ensure proper operation. Most attitude control systems use fuels that are distinct from the spacecraft's other propulsion and power systems. This small engine was developed for use with the hydrogen and oxygen from a fuel cell system. It was tested at Glenn's Rocket Engine Test Facility in the 1980s.
