			<< Previous    |    Next >> Lent by Ames Research Center This wind tunnel model is one of many designs studied during the High Speed Civil Transport, HSCT, program. During the late 1980's and early 90's numerous configurations were studied for a supersonic commercial passenger aircraft. A supersonic aircraft would allow a dramatic decrease in flight time but encountered may technological hurdles not the least of which is the sonic boom caused by an aircraft flying at supersonic speeds.
