Developed by NASA's Airspace Systems Program, Edgarville Airport-Take Off to the Future of Air Travel, is a three-dimensional, interactive display designed for exhibition at public venues across the country. The program provides a 180-degree, immersive environment with animated characters to guide users through a virtual airport. Employing real air traffic controllers to explain how air traffic is managed, this exhibit allows users to gain a better understanding of how the National Airspace System (NAS) operates. To highlight NASA's role in air traffic management, the program draws upon a series of QuickTime movies that educate the public about the work the Airspace Systems Program is doing to revolutionize air traffic management.
