Pushing the Limits Art Exhibit--Aviation Flight Research as Seen Through the NASA Art Program

"Pushing the Limits" presents the history of flight research at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and its predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) through paintings from NASA's art collection. Since 1962, NASA has commissioned artists to document America's major accomplishments in aeronautics and space. A number of artists including Robert McCall, William Phillips, Stan Stokes, Kristin Hill, and Mike Machat have contributed their talents to document NASA's aeronautics research. Not only do their works provide a historic record of NASA projects, but they also give the public a new and fuller understanding of aerospace advancements.
