Fundamental Aeronautics Program Banner

The Fundamental Aeronautics (FA) Program convenes Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) to provide a forum through which results from recent NASA research projects can be shared and discussed by NASA researchers with the aeronautics community, and with partners from industry, academia, other federal agencies, and the international community.

Components of the TIM typically include an opening day plenary session, keynote addresses, a panel discussion, and full-day parallel technical sessions detailing research conducted by the four FA projects. A packet of print materials is provided to each participant to optimize the experience.

Attendees interact with leading researchers in NASA aeronautics, and network with peers in aeronautics-related disciplines from across the nation. The 2012 event drew almost 500 aeronautics professionals, government representatives, and academics and featured approximately 120 presentations in four parallel tracks over three days. International aerospace organizations such as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) also attended to further promote and/or enhance current partnerships and new collaborative opportunities in aeronautics research.
