Secure Approach Yields Better Results
Developing a centralized cross-agency system to allow sharing of security incidents from separate locations would require a unique collaboration. After implementing formal research agreements with several other government agencies, NASA began work on a solution to address the issues of place as well as privacy.

The result of the collaboration was the Security Incidents Reporting System (SIRS), a new anonymous incident reporting system that grants limited immunity to its participants. SIRS collects reports of real-world security incidents from personnel who may never have reported them through conventional channels, and is currently in use at three U.S. airports.
