Technology For the Future
This document addresses the challenges that confront aviation in the
United States and how new technologies can be brought to bear on these
issues. They have the potential to resolve our issues as well as open a
whole new era in aviation by providing new opportunities in air
transportation safety and efficiency, national defense, economic growth,
and quality of life.

NASA Aeronautics Blueprint: Toward a Bold New Era in Aviation
This Blueprint for Aeronautics is a product of the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA). It primarily addresses the challenges
that confronted aviation in the United States before the terrorist
attacks of September 11, 2001. Safety and security have taken on a whole
new perspective since that event, and technology solutions are presented
in this Aeronautics Blueprint. We also recognize that the issues that
were facing air travel prior to September 11 will return and require
innovative technology solutions.
