Mission for Health Care

The Chief Health and Medical Officer assists the Administrator to ensure the
health and safety of NASA employees in space and on the ground by developing
health and medical policy, establishing guidelines for health and medical practice
in the Agency, providing oversight of health care delivery, assuring professional competency
Agency-wide, and reviewing and approving research requirements and deliverables.
The Chief Health and Medical Officer also monitors human and animal research
and clinical practice to ensure that the Agency adheres to the highest medical
and ethical standards and satisfies all regulatory and statutory requirements.
