Gaile Eastman
Secretary, Office of the Chief Technologist
In November 1996, Ms. Gaile Eastman was appointed as Secretary for the Office of the Chief Technologist. The Office of the Chief Technologist reports directly to the Administrator and serves as the principal advisor and advocate on matters concerning Agencywide technology policy and programs. Ms. Eastman supports the Chief Technologist, his Deputy and his Assistant, and is responsible for all administrative matters associated with the Office, including scheduling, correspondence and action items. Other specific functions include executive support for the Technology Leadership Council, the Technology and Commercialization Advisory Committee, and other office products such as the NASA Technology Plan, the NASA Technology Inventory, and web-based resources.
Before joining the Office of the Chief Technologist,
Ms. Eastman served as Secretary and Administrative Assistant to the Associate Administrator for Space Access and Technology. This office had major responsibility for providing a focus within NASA to identify, develop and enhance innovative advanced space technologies and future launch systems to make new mission capabilities and to encourage the development of market-driven space products and services.
Ms. Eastman started her career at NASA Headquarters in 1972.
