Influenza Campaign
2010– 2011 SEASONAL FLU SHOTS
Date: Tuesday-Friday, October 19th through October 29th and Tuesdays – Thursdays, beginning November 2nd
Time: 1-3 pm
Location: Health Unit, CD70
The NASA Headquarters Health Unit conducts an influenza campaign annually. Flu shots are available to NASA civil service employees on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. No appointment is necessary. This year's flu vaccine will protect against three viruses (an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season). Flu is a seasonally occurring respiratory illness that can be transmitted from person to person. The best way to protect against influenza is to get vaccinated. October and November are the best months to get vaccinated, and it usually takes about two weeks after the shot is administered for the body to develop immunity.
