“Quit for Good” Smoking Cessation Program

This six-session program provides participants with all of the essential information and strategies needed to direct their own efforts at stopping their smoking habit. The program focuses on active pragmatic approaches in helping participants to stop smoking. At the first class, Cathy Turner of the Virginia Hospital Center will present an overview of the program. A minimum of 12 participants is required for this initial lecture . If we do not have the minimum number of participants, the lecture and program will be cancelled.
Following the lecture, and provided at least 20 people register, lung capacity screenings will be conducted from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., by L&T Health and Fitness. The lung capacity screening is open to nonsmokers and smokers alike. The screener will evaluate lung function with a micro-spirometer designed to determine the volume of air expelled.
Virginia Hospital Center will conduct five additional smoking cessation classes, if a minimum of six people sign up . The classes will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 17; Thursday, April 19; Wednesday, April 25; Thursday, April 26; and Tuesday, May 8.
his MDIPA-sponsored program is open to all NASA civil servants and contractors. A minimum of 12 participants is required for the initial lecture. To register, contact the Health Unit.
