If visiting from another Center, personnel should request “HQ Physical Access” in NAMS.

Unclassified and Classified Visits

If an employee is required to visit another Agency or Company, a visit approval for “No Clearance or Collateral Access” NASA HQ (NHQ) Form 23 (Request for Visit Approval) must be completed and submitted to the NASA HQ Security Office a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the date of the scheduled visit. Any NHQ Form 23 that is missing information will be returned without action taken. Once the NHQ Form 23 is processed, a message will be sent outlining specific instructions.

For Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI) visit requirements a NHQ Form 1833 (Request for SCI Classified Visit Approval) must be completed and submitted to the Office of Protective Services a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the date of the scheduled visit. Any NHQ Form 1833 that is missing information will be returned without action being taken. Once the NHQ Form 1833 is processed, a message will be sent outlining specific instructions.

Foreign National Visitor Procedures

In accordance with Homeland Security requirements, NASA performs vetting on all visit requests for Foreign Nationals (FN) through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program and Visual Compliance. The HQ Security Office requires all FN visit requests be entered into IdMAX ten business days prior to their visit date. Questions concerning FN visits should be directed to the International Visit Coordinator.

All Foreign National Visitors must be physically met and escorted by their sponsors while in NASA HQ. Foreign National Visitors are not allowed within NASA HQ between 7 PM - 7AM including weekends and Federal Holidays.

Foreign National Escort Policy:

In order to escort a Foreign National, the escort must have taken the FN Escort Training and sign a Foreign National Escort Policy form (one form for each individual escorted). No more than three (3) Foreign Nationals will be escorted by each escort. Each Foreign National will be provided a F/N visitor badge which must be displayed at all times. By signing the policy form, the escort is acknowledging that they will be in that persons’ presence at all times. The Foreign National will be escorted directly to the room where their meeting will take place and then directly back to the West Lobby after the meeting. If the Foreign National needs to go to the restroom, they will be escorted. At no time will a Foreign National be given directions and allowed to go anywhere in NASA HQ unescorted.
