Revised: Feb. 2009
Most countries are space customers-that is, they use satellites for communications and weather information that are made and launched elsewhere. Most Americans know that the Russians and the Chinese have space programs, but how many would know that Brazil builds and launches sounding rockets and has sent astronauts to the International Space Station? This is a list of resources on the World Wide Web and at the NASA headquarters library of space agencies of nations that have either launched their own satellites or which could easily do so, after some research and development. The list is based on NASA's Office of External Relations list of foreign space agencies, but also includes other nations' space agencies besides those listed therein.
For information on NASA's policies on cooperating with other space agencies, please look at International Cooperation in Space. The NASA HQ library also has resource lists with special details of the space programs of the European Space Agency, India, Japan, Russia, China, and South Korea, so these countries are not included here. If you are a NASA HQ employee, please consider subscribing to our news alerts on international space affairs to keep up with the latest news.
All items are available at the Headquarters Library, except as noted. NASA
