Revised: Aug. 2010
NASA, like the other federal agencies, is funded and given an agenda by Congress. Also, a framework of laws, cases, and
treaties keeps NASA and other satellite launchers and operators from interfering with one another and allows the courts to
handle lawsuits regarding damaged satellites. The NASA HQ library includes Congressional hearings on various subjects, policy
reports, and colloquia on law in outer space. Internal NASA policies are located at the NASA Online Directives Information System. You may also find items of interest in our
webpages on Military Space, International Cooperation in Space, and Public Opinion of the American Space Program. If you are
a NASA employee, please consider subscribing to our news
alert on government reports to get the latest links to NASA-related reports from different agencies. This bibliography is
a guide to doing policy, legal, and legislative research at the NASA HQ library.
All items are available at the Headquarters Library, except as noted. NASA Headquarters employees and contractors: call
x0168 or email Library@hq.nasa.gov for information on borrowing or in-library use of
any of these items. Members of the public, contact your local library for the
availability of these items. NASA Headquarters employees can request additional materials or research on this topic.
