COMPUTER REFRESH
 

ACES-managed computers are refreshed every 3 years. When you are eligible for a refresh, you will be contacted to choose your new computer. Once the order is approved and submitted, it takes about 45 days to receive the new equipment.

You will be contacted by the Refresh Team to schedule your refresh date and to provide instructions on how to prepare and information on what to expect.

Computer refreshes will now occur during the day. You may request a loaner laptop for the day of your refresh by submitting an ESD ticket.

Early Refresh

If you rquire an early computer refresh, you must contact your organization's IT POC.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

In order to provide you with the best refresh experience possible, ITCD has a carefully planned outreach schedule. Once your new computer has been ordered, you will receive the following outreach:

  • Formal calendar invite to confirm appointment

  • Follow-up on pre-deployment questionnaire (if necessary)
  • Identify missing questionnaires
  • Verify licenses for special software
  • Advise user of non-compatible equipment/software
7 days before refresh
IT Notice
  • Reminder about upcoming refresh and what to do to prepare
2 or 3 days before refresh
Phone Call or E-mail
  • Personal reminder to ensure user is ready and answer any questions
Refresh Day
Refresh Tech retrieves and returns computer
  • Refresh occurs (user receives new computer or legacy computer is returned)
  • Provide Leave Behind instructions
  • Provide appropriate handouts
3 to 5 days after refresh

SUPPORT


Refresh/deployment technicians will be available to troubleshoot issues for 3 business days following deployment of a new computer.

  • A "Sweeper" appointment will be scheduled for you for the day following your refresh.
  • Issues experienced within 3 business days should be reported to the deployment team using the ACES Transition Online Manager (ATOM) tool located within the AUO Wizard or the ATOM icon on the desktop. Or contact the Deployment Desk at 358-1632 and leave a message.
  • Issues experienced after 3 business days, should be reported to the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD):
