| NASA’s Online Employee Directories
All NASA HQ Employees
February 3, 2009
Currently, there are several online directories in use at NASA
to locate employees and contractors. The one most widely used is
the NOMAD Global Address List (GAL) which is part of our e-mail
system. The other two are the X.500
Directory and a new agency directory called the NASA
Enterprise Directory (NED).
NED is NASA’s online phone and information directory and is available
at https://webdir.nasa.gov. It is the only definitive single storage
location for all Centers’ directory information and should be considered
the most reliable source of information. NED will eventually replace
the X.500 Directory.
Updating Employee Data
Previously at Headquarters, all employee data was updated via an
e-mail to email@example.com. However, due to recent improvements
in NASA’s Agency-wide IT infrastructure, certain data elements can
only be changed by the Human Resources Management Division through
an official personnel action processed by an organization’s Administrative
Point of Contact (POC) in the Federal Personnel Payroll System (FPPS).
The following fields can only be updated by an Administrative POC:
an employee’s name, organization ID, Center, and job title. All
other data elements continue to be updated via a request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
of Administrative POC’s is posted online for your convenience.
The GAL and NED are updated by receiving data feeds from both the
X.500 Directory and FPPS. However, it is important to note that
FPPS-related changes may not appear in the GAL and NED for 2 pay
periods after the official personnel action is processed in FPPS.
Should you need assistance, call the
Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) at 358-HELP (4357) or 1-866-4NASAHQ (462-7247)
or send an e-mail.
