Mandatory PIV Training – Due April 30, 2009
PIV users who have not completed training
April 8, 2009
HQ has recently begun using the Agency’s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) system, which is part of the IdMAX tool set. PIV is the Agency tool used to request NASA badges for new employees and to insure that any requests for access to IT resources are bona fide requests from that individual. It is designed for NASA COTRs and anyone who initiates or approves IT access requests on behalf of others. It is also used by Human Resources and administrative personnel at contracting agencies.
You are receiving this notice because you were identified as someone who is currently using PIV or will do so in the future. A PIV account has been created for you, but will not be activated until you have completed mandatory training. There are different roles available in PIV. The most common are PIV Requester (someone who initiates a badge or an IT access request) and PIV Sponsor (someone who can vouch for another’s official relationship with NASA).
Please see the attached spreadsheet to see the role(s) we believe are appropriate for you. If you believe you have been assigned an inappropriate role, or if you think you do not need access to PIV, please contact Ray Patten , at 358-2371.
The deadline for completing this training is April 30, 2009. All of the classes below are provided online in SATERN and may be completed at your convenience, however, failure to complete by April 30th will result in your PIV role being terminated. After completing the course, click on “Learning History” then click on the button titled “Print Completion Certificate.” Retain the printed certificate for your records.
You are required to take these courses:
