New Secure WebEx Service
All NASA HQ Employees
July 20, 2009

Secure WebEx is a Secure Virtual Team Meeting (SVTM) collaboration tool that allows you to host and participate in online secure virtual meetings. This service is delivered on-demand through your Web browser. You can conduct or participate in a Web meeting (also known as a Web conference) right from your desktop. Typically this happens in conjunction with a phone call or teleconferencing session, so you have the ability to show and tell.

Current Benefits

·       Unlimited minutes

·       Unlimited sessions

·       Fixed seat (account) price of $61.94 per month

·       Authorized for Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) material

·       All WebEx sessions are secure

Each meeting session is limited to 200 users. The meeting host will be charged $18.44 per attendee in excess of 200 on a per session basis. The use of conference rooms is recommended for group attendees to keep the cost to a minimum.

How to Get an Account

To acquire a Secure WebEx account, follow these step-by-step instructions to submit a Check In Check Out request.  All WebEx accounts are now secure.  If you already have a WebEx account, you do not need to take any action at this time.

The teleconference service is a separate service. Information about obtaining this service is available on the Voice Teleconference Services Web page. Participants are given a teleconference phone number and passcode in order to join the conference.

Training

Training sessions for Secure WebEx are available to everyone, including users who currently do not have a WebEx account.  Descriptions for each session and instructions for registering are available on the HQ Secure WebEx Web page .

NOTE: After the August upgrade, hosts will no longer be able to hold multiple sessions simultaneously.

In the Fall of 2009, user authentication will be added.  All participants will be required to provide their NASA credentials (i.e., your Agency UserID (AUID) and password) when joining a meeting.  Anyone who needs to host a meeting must obtain their own Secure WebEx account (i.e., hosts will lose the ability to share accounts).
