Test Your SecurID Token – Prior to September 3, 2009
All NASA HQ Employees
September 1, 2009

In the coming weeks Headquarters will be conducting a pandemic influenza preparedness telework exercise. More information about the specifics of this exercise will be forthcoming. To prepare for this exercise all Headquarters employees are asked to test the functionality of their SecurID token by September 3, 2009.  Testing your SecurID token to access NASA IT resources, such as SNA, remotely is critical to the success of the telework exercise.

A SecurID token is a portable authentication device allowing you to access resources remotely via the Virtual Private Network (VPN) or using Secure Nomadic Access (SNA) .  You should contact the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) if you do not have a SecurID token, have forgotten your PIN; or your token has not been activated, has been lost, or is not functioning properly.

How to Test Your Token

Although you can test your token right from your desk, we encourage you to test your connectivity to the Headquarters VPN or SNA services from home.  If you receive any type of error message or are unable to log in for any reason, contact the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD).

  • Visit the SNA Web site ( https://sna.hq.nasa.gov).
  • In the “Username” field, enter your HQ username.
  • In the “Password” field, enter your SecurID PIN immediately followed by
the 6‑digit number currently displayed on your token.
  • Click “Sign in.”

If you need help using your SecurID token, you may visit the User Resource Center (URC) in Room CX42 for assistance.

How to Access NASA Resources Remotely

You have several options for remote access, all of which require a SecurID token:

Access the Remote Connectivity Guide from the Remote Access Services Web page:

If you need help using your SecurID token, you may visit the User Resource Center (URC) in Room CX42 for assistance.

Should you have questions, call the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) at 358-HELP (4357) or 1-866-4NASAHQ (462-7247) or send an e-mail.
