Requirements for New Employees (Civil Service and Contractors)

All new employees are required to complete annual Privacy and Sensitive Information Awareness training within 30 days of reporting to work at NASA Headquarters. Employees detailed or transferring from other NASA Centers, who have already completed the annual training requirement for that particular fiscal year, are not required to repeat the training upon arrival at Headquarters.

Obtaining a NASA SATERN User Account

SATERN accounts are automatically created for all new NASA civil service employees usually within 2 weeks of onboarding. Headquarters civil servants lacking an account should call the SATERN Help Desk at 877-677-2123 or send an e-mail to nasa-satern.support@nasa.gov.

Contractor employees, non-NASA civil servants, and military personnel detailed to NASA may create a SATERN account on-line. You must have been issued a NASA Agency User-ID (AUID) in order to access SATERN. If you do not have an Agency user-ID, contractors should contact your Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR). Non-NASA civil servants and military personnel should contact your organizations' IT Point of Contact. Complete instructions for creating your SATERN account are available.

Forget Your SATERN UserID or Password?

SATERN now uses the NASA Access Launchpad to authenticate authorized users and grant access. Instructions for finding your AUID and recovering your Access Launchpad password are available.

Completion Certificates

Since you are not actually taking this training in SATERN, you will not be able to print a completion certificate.  Attendance will be tracked when you register in SATERN and then at the end of each session.
