WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE

The Windows 7 Upgrade / Refresh Project has been cancelled.

Effective Friday, March 4, the Windows 7 Upgrade and Computer Refreshes projects were officially cancelled.  This decision was made based on budget concerns and the fact that NASA HQ will be transitioning to a new IT support contract later this year.

=====================================================================

The following information is for historical purposes only...

Windows 7 is going LIVE at NASA Headquarters!

Users who currently have a NASA-issued Windows computer are being upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. This operating system upgrade is being combined with the hardware refresh process. All users who are due a hardware refresh between now and April 30, 2011 will receive Windows 7 and a new computer. Users who are not due a hardware refresh will receive only the Windows 7 upgrade between May 1 and June 30, 2011. Organization IT POCs have a list of users who are receiving both a refresh and the upgrade.

Windows 7 comes with many new features and enhancements, including the following:

  • Better desktop
  • Smarter search
  • Built for speed
  • Better wireless networking
