Please mark your calendars to attend the next PCIE IT Roundtable on the 27th of August. I realize this is short notice, but it has a been struggle lining up the necessary resources during the month of August. The focus of the next meeting will be slanted towards investigations as promised since the last meeting dealt with IT Audit issues. The presentation on ID Theft is suited for both audiences and I encourage attendance by all. I've attached the last couple of activity reports, the current membership list, and a detailed street map of the meeting location. Please forward this email to all others who may be interested in attending.Overview of 27 August meeting:
ID Theft - Presentation will include how this phenomena has affected the Department of Education, other Gov't agencies, and the private sector. The detailed information will include a description of the "Tools of the Trade" necessary to commit this crime, typical MOs and indicators, as well as video clips from the debriefing of a convicted professional ID thief.
Commercial Digital Forensic Support - Presentation and discussion facilitated by a Department of Energy representative. The discussion will focus on ways to supplement existing in-house capabilities, different types of support available, and possible mechanisms for payment.
Update from DHS - A representative will provide an overview of the current and planned DHS activities as it relates to cyber national infrastructure and how the IG community fits into the picture.
