NASA Inspector General Paul K. Martin today released a report that examined the significant challenges NASA must address as it seeks to acquire transportation services from commercial companies to carry astronauts to the International Space Station and low Earth orbit. These challenges include selecting the optimal acquisition strategy, modifying existing human-rating requirements to make them applicable to commercially developed systems, and establishing the appropriate insight/oversight model for commercial partner vehicle development.
