SECURITY MANAGEMENT DIVISION (SMD)
  • NASA's contribution to national-level policy-making for security, internal policy formulation, oversight, guidance, advice, and assistance to NASA Center security programs and initiatives designed to protect NASA personnel (including on-site contractors and visitors), classified national security information, and physical assets. This includes personnel security, physical security, industrial security, foreign national visitor program, protection of classified national security information (CNSI) and sensitive but unclassified (SBU) information, and communications security. The SMD is responsible for the protection of CSNI in all forms and mediums including when it is processed and maintained on IT systems and other electronic formats.SMD is, in general, responsible for the protection of unclassified information in IT systems.
