FPDS-NG: USE OF ALPHA-NUMERIC MODIFICATION NUMBERS
PURPOSE: To provide guidance on the standardization of modification numbers in FPDS-NG.
BACKGROUND: The Procurement Data Warehouse (PDWS) has been re-instituted to provide for agency and center level reporting needs. The PDWS does not accommodate the use of alpha-numeric modification numbers (e.g., Mod 1A issued as a correction to Mod 1). Modifications recorded in FPDS-NG with alpha characters cannot be pulled back into PDWS for use in standard reports. Continuation of this practice will produce data gaps and result in incomplete reports from PDWS.
GUIDANCE: Effective immediately, do not report modifications with alpha characters to FPDS-NG. This does not affect the work around currently in place which allows the user to complete internal administrative modifications inside of PRISM that do not require contractor signature. For example, Mod 1 is approved in PRISM and reported to FPDS-NG. An error is discovered on the mod, e.g., the PPC is incorrect, and Mod 1A is entered in PRISM to correct it. The user should then go directly to FPDS-NG to input the correction to Mod 1 that was previously reported, rather than sending Mod 1A directly to FPDS-NG through PRISM.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This PIC is effective as dated and shall remain in effect until cancelled or superseded.
