Summary

Compilations of weights for imagery items on the as-flown Apollo Stowage Lists at Earth Launch for Apollo 11 and Apollo 17 show the total for gear carried in the Command Module increased from 56.6 pounds (25.7 kg) on Apollo 11 to 81.7 lbs (37.1 kg) on Apollo 17.  Much of the difference was due to the greater number of film magazines carried on the later missions for use on the lunar surface by the LM crew and for terrain imagery by the CMP during solo operations in lunar orbit.  Imagery weights carried in the LM increased from 38.0 pounds (17.2 kg) to 57.7 pounds (26.2 kg) with the difference primarily due to (1) replacement of the small, tripod mounted B&W TV camera with the Rover-mounted color TV, Television Control Unit and High-Gain Antenna and (2) replacement of the Apollo Close-up Stereo Camera with a third Hasselblad equipped with a 500-mm lens.

In addition, the Apollo 15-17 Service Modules carried large film magazines and cassettes for use in cameras in the Scientific Instrument Module (SIM).  On Apollo 17, the total weight of SIM magazines and cassettes was 109.7 pounds (49.8 kg).
