At this point in the Apollo 11 EVA, Neil is working at the MESA and Buzz has been examining the LM. In the following, after CapCom Bruce McCandless reminds Buzz to remove the close-up camera from the MESA, Buzz joins Neil but suggests that he, Buzz, take the Hasselblad camera and start a plus-Y pan while Neil offloads the close-up camera. As is discussed in the ALSJ, this sequence of events was not immediately obvious but can be worked out from evidence provided by the checklists, the TV, and the Hasselblad images themselves.

Part of the confusion over the question of who took which pictures when arose because of transcript errors as indicated below. Here, the original transcript is shown in italics with the important errors shown in bold type. The corrected transcipt is shown in non-italicized type.

The error at 04 14 43 33, which can be interpreted as Buzz asking if Neil has taken the panorama, is likely to have muddied post-flight interpretations of events.
