Glen Swanson


Glen E. Swanson has held a fascination for space exploration since childhood. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, he received a BS degree in education from Western Michigan University in 1987 where he majored in history and minored in physics and mathematics. After several years of teaching, including a year as program director for the Michigan Space Center in Jackson, Michigan, he founded CSPACE Press, an aerospace publishing firm during which time he acquired and served as editor of Countdown, a monthly magazine covering the space shuttle program. In 1992 he founded Quest, the world's only publication devoted to the history of spaceflight. Swanson has served as a consultant for several space history television productions including Moon Shot, Rockets and the critically acclaimed HBO series From the Earth to the Moon. After obtaining an MS degree in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota in 1998, he began working for NASA as historian of the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. His most recent publication has been a collection of oral histories on the Apollo program which he edited in the NASA published book "Before This Decade Is Out: Personal Reflections on the Apollo Program."
